Lexmark Website for Airport supported printers. This is an unofficial list of wireless printers which are are compatible with the AirPort Extreme wireless network. In theory any printer which conforms to These printers are deemed to not work out of the box or if at all with an Airport Extreme or Express in the same way as the printers listed above. Where the printer is linked then there is page with further information which may be of use.
Here is where things needed to change Click the "Custom" radio button 7. Click the "Settings" radio button 8. Change the port from to 9. Choose your printer from the list and follow the rest of the prompts to install and configure the driver. Seems as if the port was the issue and changing it from to fixed everything. Many thanks. This is an amazing tip! It worked for me! Yeah, yeah, I know, Windows and Mac come from two different companies and forces of the market cause them to inevitably hamper each other's products.
I couldn't figure out why this was failing. Do these settings work in conjunction with or override Bonjour? I actually had to uninstall and reinstall Bonjour on one of those PCs, but it worked perfectly after that evidently some kind of quirky conflict, which makes sense because I need to clean out that cluttered machine.
In any event, please comment if someone knows whether these settings are essentially the same as Bonjour, whether they override those Bonjour settings, or whether they are totally separate and if so, would there be a conflict? Thank you. This all seems way too complicated. Has anyone gotten this to work via Windows Vista or Windows 7? They ask a couple more things in the last few steps. I was looking for this solution for several months.
Thank you! I just followed the instructions for a Windows Vista laptop to connect to a HP printer on an Airport Express and it worked perfectly! First downloaded Bonjour for Windows and went through the steps.
When that didn't work, went through the steps described above in original post, changing the port from to My PC can see the printer and has it selected as the default printer, but no print jobs from PC are getting printed.
I can print just fine through the Airport with my Mac laptop. Even easier solution to print from windows.

After much searching, I found these instructions and all is well: Make sure the printer is recognised by the base station. Select 'Add a new printer' in Windows Select 'Local Printer' in the dialog box auto detect and install should be off , click next.

A related method Authored by: robg on Oct 13, '03 AM. I recieved the following as an anonymous hint, but it strikes me that it's closely related to this one, so I'm posting it here as a comment instead. I want to connect my printer with the base station and want to print. I've already tried with all general procedures but it didn't work.
I need my Airport Express Base station to work with my printer immediately. Please someone help me. As you mentioned you already have tried all the general procedures to make your Airport Express Base Station work.
Could you please try with the following steps:. Open the System Preferences, from the Dock and then right click in the printer box; then choose Reset printer system and click Ok. Now try to print. Before doing these steps, do check that you're connected with the Internet and your Printer is Mac supported. I think these will work. Please let me know whether you are able to set it up or not. I've tried with your steps but still it's not working.
I also checked with my internet connection, it's ok and my printer is also Mac supported. What should I do now. Could you please suggest me. I guess your Mac OS is not updated.
